Last night, Annie had what was probably her personal best game of the season so far. Still it was a losing effort overall for the girls, but I think they're smart enough to realize that what was really important was how well they actually played.
Way to play, Annie! It looks as though you were having fun doing it. Winning is nice, but it is in many respects vastly over-rated. It took me a long time to realize just how competitive I am and now, as something that sometimes resembles a mature adult, I often won't play games because I find the winning becoming too important. I'd rather play something for fun these days than as a game with a winner. Maybe that's why martial arts is so appealing. When we test for a belt, it's against a standard not against how other people can do the same form. I don't mind competing with myself (which is what doing something against a standard really is), but the whole other people thing still gets dicey.
